Eye Care Associates of St. Louis utilizes state-of-the-art technology as well as old-fashioned, friendly service in order to provide you with the most comprehensive, quality eye care available. We strive to make each and every patient feel welcome and relaxed when visiting our office. In addition to the latest advances in refractive surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology treatment, Eye Care Associates of St. Louis offers the convenience of an on-site optical shop. Our experienced opticians provide personalized service and quality eyewear. Our optical shop carries the latest styles from the most popular names in eyewear fashion. In addition, all glasses come with a case, cleaning cloth, and cleaning solution.

Meet the Doctors

Stephen A. Wexler, M.D.

Stephen A. Wexler MDDr. Stephen Wexler received his undergraduate degree with high distinction from the University of Michigan, and his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School in 1982. Following an internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Dr. Wexler completed his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He joined Drs. Jack Kayes and Harry Knopf in private practice in 1986.

LASIK Experience

Dr. Wexler began studying refractive surgery in the mid-1980s and is now one of the most experienced refractive surgeons in the Midwest, having performed more than 30,000 LASIK procedures. His commitment to excellence keeps him at the forefront of this ever-changing science.

Dr. Wexler was one of the first surgeons in the area to perform custom WaveFront®-guided LASIK and the first surgeon in St. Louis to use the totally bladeless IntraLase® technology. Today, Dr. Wexler is a recognized expert in the field, speaks extensively on the subject, and proudly serves on an advisory panel comprised of the nation’s leading refractive surgeons.

Achievements

Dr. Wexler is the medical director for TLC Laser Eye Center in St. Louis and is a certified AMO-VISX/Intralase instructor. He is also a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine, where his responsibilities include providing refractive surgery training to the school’s cornea fellows. In 1996, Dr. Wexler was awarded "Clinical Teacher of the Year" by the ophthalmology residents at Washington University. In 2006, he received recognition for 20 years of service to the university’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Dr. Wexler has authored a number of papers published in the leading ophthalmological journals and invented a surgical instrument for use in LASIK surgery. He has served as president of the Missouri Ophthalmological Society and is an active member of the St. Louis Ophthalmological Society. His affiliations include Barnes-Jewish and St. Luke's Hospitals in St. Louis.

Dr. Wexler is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Sean M. Breit, M.D.

Sean M. Breit, M.D.Dr. Sean M. Breit graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. An Ohio native, Dr. Breit earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2002 from Ohio State University College of Medicine. Following an internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Breit completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Washington University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Post-residency, Dr. Breit was appointed Chief Resident for the 2006-2007 academic year. He now serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington University.

Dr. Breit practices comprehensive ophthalmology, but has a special interest in advanced surgical techniques for the treatment and management of eye diseases, including glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Breit enjoys staying at the forefront of the latest advances in ophthalmic science and technology. This is reflected in his interest in the surgical management of high myopia and presbyopia through refractive lens exchange, phakic intraocular lenses, aspheric lens implants, multifocal lens implants, and accommodating intraocular lens implants.

Dr. Breit is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Todd La Point, O.D.

Todd La Point, O.D.Dr. Todd La Point is an optometrist who comes from a long line of St. Louis eye care providers with more than 50 years of service. Dr. LaPoint graduated with honors from Missouri State University. Following his graduation from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry in 1997, Dr. La Point completed clinical externships at the Washington University School of Medicine, the University of Missouri-St. Louis Community Service clinics, and with the United States Marine Corps in the under-served Pacific Rim. He joined Eye Care Associates in 2000.

Dr. La Point has a keen interest in comprehensive eye health management. This includes full scope surgical co-management, treatment of acute and chronic eye conditions, and specialty contact lens fitting.

Memberships

Dr. La Point is an active member in the Saint Louis Optometric Society, the Missouri Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the Barnes Eyecare Network. He is a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Janae Kadlec, O.D.

Janae Kadlec, O.D.Janae Kadlec, O.D. has been a practicing optometrist since 1996, and specializes in comprehensive eye care for children and adults.  Dr. Kadlec received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University and is a graduate of University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry.  She is a member of the St. Louis Optometric Society.

Dr. Kadlec loves getting to know her patients and their families and takes pride in providing a personalized approach to each patient's eye care.  She has received recognition for her skills in contact lens fitting and her has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease.
